Interested in guiding the direction of Swing Dance Winnipeg? Sounds like you might want to be a director!

As part of the AGM, an election will be held to elect new directors. Up to seven more directors may be elected to begin a two-year term immediately after the election. Renata H and Anny C will continue on in the second year of their two-year term, and Josh P will be available as an ex-officio director.

Nominees need to:
– have been a SDW member in good standing for at least 90 days prior to their nomination
– be passionate about promoting the purposes of SDW
– have time to actively participate in board meetings and associated tasks
– be willing to listen to and respect various views, and support the will of the majority

Swing Dance Winnipeg uses a self-nomination process, though we encourage you to shoulder-tap those whom you think would be good directors! If you are interested in running for the board, please submit your nomination by completing the Nomination Form.

Nominations will close at 11:59 p.m. on January 10, 2016 (21 days prior to the election date).

More information:

Directorship is a volunteer position, and directors are elected for a two-year term.

At the first board meeting, the directors will elect from among themselves a President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary, which the director will fulfill for a one-year term.

Currently, nominees do not run for specific board roles as part of the election process. However, nominees interested in specific roles are encouraged to specify skills and interests suited for a specific role in their nomination form, which the Nominations Committee will take into consideration when preparing the slate of nominees.
