Frankie Manning was instrumental in the continuing existence of Lindy Hop. He is well known as the Ambassador of Lindy Hop within swing dancing circles. This year on May 26 would have been his 100th birthday.
So come celebrate Frankie’s 100th on Friday May 23. There will be a performance of the Lindy Chorus Global choreography and the shim sham, and we’ll have Jack & Jill competition. So everyone dress up in your best vintage dance outfit and come on out for a fun night.

The Franke Manning Boot Camp
Tuesday May 20th 2014
University of Manitoba
7-9 pm in the MPR of University Centre
Be part of a global phenomenon celebrating the 100th birthday of Frankie Manning, one of the founding fathers of Lindy Hop! On May 20th, Joshua Peters and Lisa Semchuk will be teaching you two of Frankie’s traditional routines, the Lindy Chorus and the Shim Sham.
7-8 pm Lindy Chorus
8-9 pm Frankie Shim Sham
For those planning on learning the Lindy Chorus, you do need to know 8-count Lindy Hop (particularly swing-outs) and have some Charleston experience. We’re going to be focusing on the sequence of the moves, so we won’t have a lot of time to teach the basics. As for Shim Sham previous experience in swing dance isn’t really required.
